About the Book
HOME SCHOOLING: The Fire Night Ball is a perfect choice for readers who like their thrillers spicy and macabre. Set in 1977, at the height of sexual revolution, it's about a rude moral awakening. An unplanned pregnancy throws a curve ball into Marlena Bellum's dreams of a rosy future with her lover. Will she even make it through a family reunion in her remote Wyoming village?
Religious fanatics are bent on ridding the town of Satanic influence by targeting B. L. Zebub's, a hip private club at the castle-like Alta Hotel. Gifted with slightly paranormal powers, Marlena is the brains behind its success. She and owner Harry Drake, a married development mogul, are unaware their torrid affair is carrying on the storyline of an accursed couple from 1900.
Enter a budding romance with small town doctor Ron Huddleston, an old flame still carrying the torch. Is Dr. Ron the silver lining in the storm clouds gathering around Marlena?
The men attracted by her and the fanatics after her are thrown together in close quarters, with the ancestral curse never far behind. Marlena is looking into her crystal ball for a happily-ever-after. But Harry is looking for a three-way romp, also to get past vandalism threatening his bottom line. Meanwhile, Marlena's ancestral home is slated to be sacrificed to development.
Will two deaths foretold by the curse hold true? This darkly comic spellbinder climaxes amid bonfires, natural disasters, and attempted murder at the Christmas Fire Night Ball.

"5 stars" from Jeff Napolitano, Amazon review. "I was pulled in by the twists and turns, like an alive dance. Well worth the time and a very good read."

4 stars “Home Schooling: The Fire Night Ball has a lot going for it. It’s well-written; incorporates funny character names (Sarah Bellum); employs lots of wit; presents good, distinct characters; and the conversation sounds reasonable, like what the characters would say – I can imagine them saying the words.... Overall, this is very well done and whatever the genre is, I enjoyed it. I care enough about the characters to want to know What Happens Next. This is one of very few books I’ve read recently where I’ll be looking up the sequel. Recommended."-- K. A. Krisko, reviewed on Goodreads, Amazon, B& N
4 stars "The climax to the story boils to fever pitch as everyone in town anticipates Chloe Vye's annual Christmas Fire Night Ball, and it doesn't disappoint. The many twist and turns will leave you gasping and laughing. Home Schooling: The Fire Night Ball, kudos to the author on a fine job."- EK Ellis, reviewed on Authorsden, Amazon
4 stars "I was very impressed by this vivid writing and lively characterisation and shall look out for the rest of the series. I recommend it to anyone looking for a story which contains the spine chilling, the ridiculous and the moving all seamlessly combined." --Lucinda Elliot (UK) reviewed on Goodreads, Amazon, B& N
"Women issues in the 70s – the sexual revolution arriving in Alta, Wyoming – and a supernatural air..... The women in this novel were all very strong Harry’s p.o.v. was some of my very favorite parts of the story (he was so delightfully preoccupied with trying to arrange a three-way), only surpassed by Lila who I completely fell in love with! Please, tell me more about Lila!"-- Lene Krog (the Netherlands) reviewed on Goodreads, Amazon, B& N.
